Astra gas columns - Typical causes of malfunctions and an algorithm for their repair

Main characteristics

Speaker manufacturer. This enterprise has been producing high-tech products for 60 years. The plant produces columns that use only natural gas as fuel, and the exhaust of combustion products is carried out through a chimney.

Modern models of a gas water heater are economical, have high efficiency, and do not harm the environment. Apparatuses are more profitable than boilers for heating water, as their performance is higher. They do not spend too much fuel, so this translates into a small amount for the consumer. The average cost of the device is 9,000 rubles.

Aster gas water heaters help to solve the issue of hot water supply. Even the low power model is capable of heating enough water for the whole family. More advanced devices, which have a capacity of up to 12 liters per minute, are capable of simultaneously serving two water connection points.

Despite the fact that this water heater belongs to the budget options, it includes elements that ensure complete safety. For example, in some cases, the device turns off automatically.

This is possible if:

  • There is no traction;
  • The water supply has stopped;
  • There is no flame.

Good technical characteristics and a variety of assortments make the columns ideal for providing homes with hot water.

Interesting! The cost of the Astra gas water heater is much lower than the equipment of well-known world brands, but the functional filling and design makes the device a worthy competitor.

Characteristics of the column "Astra 10"

This gas water heater "Astra" has the following technical characteristics: maximum power - 15 kW, and maximum temperature is 65 degrees. In this case, ignition is carried out manually. If we talk about design features, then the burner is located at the adjusting screw. The model has a pressure measuring port. A thermostat is also provided in the design. There is a separate container for the battery.

The model is located near the hydraulic group. The dimensions of the column are very compact. The gas connection is made through a 3.4-inch pipe. In this case, the system maintains a water pressure of 6 bar. Natural gas consumption is 2.1 cubic meters. meters per hour.

Pros and cons of technique

Domestic water heater has many advantages:

  • Has an affordable price;
  • Safe and reliable;
  • Differs in classic design;
  • Dimensions allow you to fit it even in a small room;
  • It uses gas sparingly;
  • Easy to install and easy to use;
  • It is not difficult to set up equipment operation;
  • Heats up a sufficient amount of water in a minute;
  • In the event of a breakdown, it is not difficult to find replacement parts.

Although the devices are relatively cheap, it is not worth buying the most affordable model. After all, a low price indicates the use of low-quality components. Because of this, some devices often leak during operation. Although replaceable elements can be purchased at any store, but if breakdowns occur frequently, then the question arises as to whether it is worth using cheap equipment and spending money on equipment regularly.

If you light the aster gas columns, then this process will be accompanied by an unpleasant sound. Some products have poorly tuned automation responsible for controlling and maintaining the temperature regime.

For many, the lack of additional functions and the primitiveness of the mechanism are a disappointment.But, if you use new technologies to add built-in functionality, then the cost of the devices will increase significantly, and the manufacturer does not have such a goal.

Characteristics of the device "Astra 15"

This gas water heater "Astra" has the following characteristics: the power of the model is 13 kW, and the productivity is 12 liters per minute at 25 degrees. The combustion chamber is of an open type. The ignition is carried out manually. The minimum temperature of the column can be maintained at 35 degrees. Natural gas consumption is 2.2 cubic meters per hour. The cold water connection is made through a 1.2-inch pipe. The chimney in this case is provided for 120 mm. The assembled model weighs exactly 15 kg.

Most bought models

Despite the widespread modernization of housing and communal services networks, they continue to provide low-quality services, especially in relation to hot water supply. Therefore, people themselves solve this problem with the help of gas water heaters. But before buying, you should familiarize yourself with the models, read how to use them and study the main characteristics.

Manufacturers provide a wide range of devices. There are flow and storage products. The flow-through gas heater is distinguished by its compact size, therefore, it is suitable for installation in any room, and the latter can hold from 50 to 500 liters of water. The structure has good thermal insulation, due to which the water temperature is maintained.

If the question with the choice of the device has reached a dead end, it is worth testing the capabilities of the domestic Astra gas water heaters. The advantage of these devices is not only that they are made on the territory of Russia. They have a reasonable price, which makes them accessible to any user. With all the intricacies of work, the user can figure it out on his own, which will help the instruction manual.

Consumers love more than the availability of products. Having installed a water heater in the house, there is no need to be afraid of fires and other troubles. If suddenly the burner goes out, then gas and water are no longer supplied to the device. The appearance of the Astra gas water heater is attractive, so it will fit into any interior. There are several popular options.

HSV 8910

Geyser Astra 8910 instructions, the use of which must be attached with the product, indicates the power of the HPG is 21 kW. The combustion chamber in the structure is open, in order to start the operation of the device, the wick must be manually ignited.

The device heats up to 12 liters of water per minute. Its temperature ranges from 30 to 60 degrees. During use, the device consumes 2.3m3 / h of natural gas. Water is supplied at a pressure of 0.5 to 6 bar.

The Astra 8910 geyser according to the instruction is equipped with a chimney with a diameter of 12 cm. Water flows through special pipes.

The model has a weight of 15 kg and dimensions of 700 * 372 * 230mm. It is equipped with a good burner, but periodic breakdowns of the economizer occur. This most often happens if there are defects in the wiring. But fixing this defect is easy. For this, the front panel is disconnected with a screwdriver, the electrode is removed. This must be done carefully so as not to touch the fitting that measures the pressure. By unscrewing the screws, the economizer is removed. Then his contacts are carefully checked. Perhaps the reason is their pollution.

Possible malfunctions "Astra 08" (VPG 8910)

The model uses a good burner, but the economizer under it may periodically fail. This happens often due to wiring faults. To repair the Astra gas water heater with your own hands, you first need to turn off the gas. In this case, there is no need to remove the device from the wall. You will need to use a screwdriver to detach the front panel. The economizer is located behind the electrode.

In order to get to it, first of all, you should tackle the block. The electrode in this model is fastened with four screws. In this case, the heat exchanger does not need to be touched. After removing the electrode, it is important not to touch the pressure measuring point. Otherwise, its head will have to be changed. The economizer is removed quite simply. To do this, you only need to unscrew the two screws that are on the left and right sides. Next, you need to check his contacts. In some cases, they become dirty after prolonged use of the column. If this does not help, the economizer will need to be replaced. Then it needs to be reinstalled behind the electrode. If after that the Astra 8910 gas water heater does not light up, you will not be able to make repairs with your own hands.

Advantages and disadvantages of the technique

Advantages of the aster gas water heater:

  • the price is not high;
  • ability to work on natural and liquefied gas;
  • security;
  • design in a classic style;
  • good sizes;
  • low gas consumption;
  • ease of management and installation.
  • availability of spare parts and parts.

Taking into account the conditional inexpensive price of a gas water heater, you do not need to select the most inexpensive model. Basically, the lower the cost, the lower the quality of the materials used. Therefore, in many models there is a significant drawback: as a result of operation, frequent leaks are observed. Replaceable spare parts, of course, can be bought in absolutely any store, but if problems of this kind are constant, the question arises about the effectiveness of using such inexpensive equipment with constant maintenance costs. In fact, in all models, when ignited, the sound of a fuse in the form of a cotton is frankly expressed. The automation is poorly set up regarding the control and maintenance of temperature. Many are disappointed by the lack of additional. functions, primitive design and mechanism (although for some it may be a plus).

The use of the latest technologies in speakers, the presence of most of the built-in functionality leads to a significant increase in the cost of equipment, and the manufacturer does not pursue a similar goal.

Customer reviews about the model "Astra 16"

Owners often respond positively to this column. The power suits many, and the performance parameter is also at its best. The consumption of natural gas is slightly overestimated, but the system picks up the maximum water temperature quickly. The column also has disadvantages. First of all, it is worth mentioning the small pressure parameter that the valve can withstand. In some cases, the burner may break.

The column adjuster screw is durable. The presented sample has no container for the battery. It should also be noted that this column is produced with a small ignition block. The hydraulic group rarely breaks down. It is possible to purchase this column for 9,200 rubles.

Most purchased models

Consumer reviews are very different - this is due to the technical capabilities of the equipment and the real need for its operation. The equipment cannot constantly operate at full power, due to this, even a good gas boiler can malfunction. The most popular models that have a good customer response are as follows.

    Astra 8910-10 is the simplest and most inexpensive model, about 5000 rubles. The working mechanism resembles a former Soviet column, but in a much more modern execution. The design is very primitive, and repairs can be done on your own, even without specific abilities. Maintenance does not carry out large financial costs, since it is performed in a household way. In order not to have to constantly descale the column, you can put a filter for preliminary water purification. If, nevertheless, plaque has already appeared on the radiator, it can be washed with vinegar or a traditional descaler. Sometimes smearing levers is a standard service for gas appliances by gas workers.

Technical properties of the column brand VPG 8910-08.02

speaker

In order not to be mistaken with the choice, several models should be considered. Among others on the market, a version of the VPG 8910-08.02 is provided, the power of which can reach 18 kW. The design has an open firebox and manual type of ignition. The productivity of this model is slightly lower and amounts to 10 l / min. The temperature of the water that is supplied remains at the old level, but the fuel consumption will be slightly lower and will be 2 m 3 / h. The small and maximum working water pressure remains the same. The connection is made with the same parameters. The diameter of the chimney remains the same. The body of the structure has similar parameters.

Review of the "Astra 16" model

The power of the model is 18 kW, and the productivity is as much as 14 liters per minute at a temperature of 25 degrees. In this case, the chimney diameter is 110 mm. The system can withstand water pressure no more than 5 bar. Natural gas consumption is about 2.1 cubic meters. meters per hour. The assembled column weighs only 14 kg. Cold water is connected through a pipe with a diameter of 1.2 inches. The maximum heating temperature is 65 degrees. The combustion chamber of the column has an open type, and its ignition is carried out manually.

Gas column Astra - Malfunctions and their elimination

___________________________________________________________________________________________

The gas water heater Astra 8910 broke down. After you open the tap for supplying clean water, a spark is formed on it, which does not go out even when the flame is constantly burning. Its supply stops only after a while. And it happens that it goes out immediately. What could it be? Try cleaning the ionization electrode. You should free the entire appliance from dust, pay particular attention to the burner. It is possible that the wire of the ionization electrode has burned out, in which case it must be reconnected. There is a malfunction of the HSG 18 gas column. The problem is associated with the operation of the water block. When I turn off the water supply, the appliance does not stop working as it should. At first, he turned off the flame with a loud bang, and sometimes even with several. And now it has completely stopped extinguishing. But you can see small strips of burning gas on the burner. Accordingly, the unit heats up even with the water turned off.As I think, the problem is in the stem, apparently it does not completely close the gas supply valve. When I had the last inspection, I noticed that the movement of the rod is difficult, but it was still in good order. It turns out to be a dilemma. If he walks freely, water seeps through him. If it is too rigid, then the system is sealed, but the gas does not close off by inclination. Probably, it should be lubricated with something. Can I use graphite grease. I would not like to change the entire water block, but if necessary, I will have to. The frog is not to blame for your problem. Everything happens due to the spring located in the gas part. Remove the burner and take it out. Try to stretch the spring. Everything should work. Can I install a heat exchanger from the 18 kW model on the Astra VPG 21 gas water heater? It seems to me that there shouldn't be a problem. I've never had gas water heaters before. In those apartments where I lived, boilers worked, or there was hot water supply. But now I have an Astra column installed. Despite the fact that it works, it was always very uncomfortable to use it. From the moment of installation, a very thin stream has flowed from the hot water tap. At the same time, water entered the device with sufficient pressure. It was completely impossible to wash in the shower. I had to take a bath, mixing hot and cold water, and wash. In order to cope with the problem, I decided to disassemble the unit and see what was wrong with it. First of all, I began to inspect the water reducer, and found out that it was covered with a coating. The layer reached a couple of millimeters. I cleaned it, cleaning all the holes at the same time. I began to examine further, and found out that the valve body itself was made using the lowest quality steel. Accordingly, the valve was partially destroyed due to interaction with water. After my actions, the pressure became better, but the water heater now does not light up. After I narrowed the inlet with a brass bushing, the problem was solved. It turns out that if you fix the gearbox with three screws, the column does not work, and if you unscrew the screws and lift the lid, supporting it with a bar, everything starts working. The device goes out only if you close the hot water supply. If I mix cold, it also ignites if hot is open. Maybe I should lengthen the stem by a couple of millimeters, and how can I do this? Or is something else broken? Contact the service center specialists. On my gas water heater Astra 8910, the automatics are triggered with a delay. The burner does not turn off immediately after the hot water supply is turned off, but after a while. Sometimes the flame lasts for another 30 seconds. Tell me, is this a problem with the membrane? Will I be able to replace it myself? I have a repair kit, which, in addition to the membrane, includes: brass fungus, oil seals, stem bushing. Do I need to change them too? I installed the unit in 2010, and until now the membrane has not been changed. Your problem is not with the membrane. You just need to stretch the small spring located in the gas end a little. The igniter does not ignite. What could have broken? You need to clean the igniter. The tube must be removed and cleaning work carried out. It may be necessary to replace the gasket. There was a malfunction of the Astra VPG 18 gas column. Water is supplied to the tap with a weak pressure, the device does not ignite. Cold water is supplied with good pressure. How can I find the cause of the breakdown? This malfunction can have many reasons. For example, the heat exchanger is dirty, the filter is clogged, debris may be stuck in the hot water supply pipe, or the screen itself is faulty. In order to determine the cause, you can try to connect the device without an outlet pipe and check the water pressure directly through the unit. If everything is in order with him, then there is a blockage in the pipeline. If not, then the problem is with the device itself. Recently, a gas water heater VPG Astra 8910 was connected.When I open the water, the main burner does not want to ignite, or, if it does start, the flame is very small. It seems to me that the problem is with the membrane. I'm right? Yes, most likely you are right. This is a membrane. You can install a self-made membrane in your device; you can cut it out of sheet rubber up to one millimeter. My gas water heater Astra VPG 21 has broken down. When I open the hot water tap, it goes out. I tried clearing the thermocouple, it didn't help. I checked the membrane, everything is in order with it, but I still put in a new one. The water pressure when passing through the unit decreases, but only slightly. Where can I find the source of the problem? Try to check the traction, it may be bad, or the traction sensor has broken. Perhaps you have a curved tube installed at the top of the water heater instead of a draft sensor, then air is supplied through it, which is necessary for combustion. If the draft is broken, this tube is no longer air, but smoke. Accordingly, the burner does not have enough oxygen for combustion, and it goes out. Therefore, the models, even if they do not have a draft sensor, are triggered by an increase in temperature in the upper part of the apparatus. Such devices are more sensitive to a deterioration in traction. Also check that the pilot flame completely covers the thermocouple. If this is not the case, then the thermocouple does not heat up enough, and does not give a signal to ignite the main burner. The instantaneous water heater of this model has been in operation for a year and a half. From the very beginning of work, problems arose when the temperature of the water increased from warm to hot. When you turn the gas supply control knob to the left, and set it opposite the small red flame icon, the unit begins to emit extraneous sounds. Cold water and hot water outlet pressure is normal. But at the same time, the temperature of the water supplied to the tap is very low. I am scared to increase the gas supply. Even a small turn of the knob to the left, and the device emits more and more powerful sounds. It seems to me that this can be dangerous. Can it be repaired somehow? If the sound is similar to the sound made by the kettle before it boils, then your apparatus is covered with scale from the inside. Please tell me how to remove the heat exchanger from the HSG 21 gas column? I’m already using the gas wrench, and I’m pulling with all my might, but I still cannot unscrew it. Both the inlet and outlet of the heat exchanger are screwed with union nuts with fittings. They can be unscrewed with regular keys, but two keys are required. One holds the fitting, and the other unscrews the nut. If you use a gas wrench, the nut may crack. It is also possible that water has entered the joint and the nut has acidified. Then it is better to remove the heat exchanger with the device removed and placed on the floor. The Astra VPG 18 gas water heater stopped starting. For repairs, I disassembled the water block and installed a new stem with a mushroom and a membrane. Now the device starts working only when water is supplied to the tap with maximum pressure. The water is correspondingly very cold. How can I get my device repaired? The frog there is old, installed without a disk. If there is a black membrane, then your problem is understandable. Look at the water block, if there is a 22 wrench plug in front, unscrew it. You will find a filter there. It must be removed. The adjusting needle of the pressure regulator is also screwed into the plug. You should also try to parse it. If it breaks, you will need to buy a new regulator with a disc that allows you to adjust the flow without disassembling the entire system. After you take out the plug, you need to clean the hole in the block with a needle with a diameter of 2 mm. Several years ago we installed this model of a gas flowing water heater. For the installation, specialists from the gas service were called, who, having studied the water pressure, advised us to buy a device of this particular model. After some time of operation, the pressure of hot water supplied to the bathroom has decreased. In this case, water is served in the kitchen as usual.Moreover, if we open the faucet in the kitchen, then the unit turns on immediately, and if to the bathroom, then to supply water it is necessary to open water in the kitchen. And today my pipes froze, as there was no water for some time. Now the pressure has recovered. But the device does not work, wherever I turn on the tap, the column is off. How do I fix this? Hot water can only come out from one hole. If the pressure of hot water is good in one place and bad in another, then the problem is definitely in the pipeline or in the mixer in the bath. Try to adjust the water flow using a special adjustment screw installed in the water part of the frog. There was a malfunction of the Astra VPG 21 gas column, it immediately goes out or does not start at all. It seems to me that the problems are either in the damaged membrane, or in the poor pressure. Perhaps there is a blockage somewhere. I noticed that the water pressure from the cold tap is much higher than the hot water pressure. The igniter burns well, but you can't hear it. It seems to me that this is not entirely correct. Is there any way I can fix the problem? First of all, you need to disconnect the water inlet and outlet from the device, and try to ignite it. If the launch goes smoothly, then your pipes are clogged. If the unit still does not start, then most likely the membrane has broken, or the filter is clogged. You need to unscrew the adjuster wheel located at the front of the water block. This requires a key for eight. Under it you will find a nut that requires a 22 wrench. Unscrew it, there is a filter mesh. I have a model of a similar design installed, and have been in operation for 5 years. The igniter was making an abnormal noise, in order to fix the problem, I used a spring from an automatic ballpoint pen, which I put out with an igniter. Everything fits perfectly there. The spring is located under the guide petal by the flame. You don't even need to disassemble anything there. You are just making a divider. The igniter is now quiet. I carried out maintenance on the Astra 8910 column. After I removed the heat exchanger, I filled it with an anti-scale solution. Then I checked where my water flow rate was losing. And here is what I installed. Water is supplied with a water pressure of 1.6 atmospheres. This is from the cold water tap water flows out at a rate of 12.5 liters per minute. After flushing, the water flow has improved. If you connect the flexible inlet and outlet pipes with a nipple, the pressure hardly changes. At the same time, water flows from the hot tap at a rate of 3.5 liters per minute. The difference is almost 10 times. The regulator, located on the block, is in the "cold" position, thereby providing maximum water flow through the unit. Is there a problem with the regulator and is it stuck in the horizontal position? Can I check it somehow? Most likely this is not the problem. These regulators don't break. Pay attention to the filter installed there, it may be clogged. To check, unscrew the nut located under the hot-cold adjusting twist. I had a similar case when we washed the heat exchanger for a very long time, repaired the introductory part, and did a lot of other things, but in fact it turned out that the gasket was pinched, and because of it little water came in. We put into operation the Astra VPG 18 gas water heater. For 5 years it did not break, but now this has come to an end. During ignition, the wick dies out if you release the handle. If you press the handle on the left, gas flows to the wick. After that, if you turn it counterclockwise, the piezo starts to work, and the wick is ignited. I hold the button down so that the thermocouple warms up properly. But as soon as I release the handle, the wick goes out, although it should continue to burn. It turns out that the device is constantly turned off when it should be working. I have not found out the reasons for the breakdown. You have to constantly walk around and light it up again. And lately, it has become very difficult to kindle it.This requires warming up the thermocouple for more than 2 minutes. And then it didn't light up at all. But after a few hours of stopping, it started almost immediately, but then it went out again, and I could not start it for a day. The last time it caught fire, and went out completely. I couldn't get it to work anymore. What could have happened to her? You need to make sure that the tip of the thermocouple is not smoked. To do this, you can gently clean it with fine sandpaper. Also see if the entire thermocouple is being washed by the pilot flame. You may need to clean the jet with a thin wire. There is also a thin tube from the thermocouple to the solenoid valve, in the place where it enters the valve, unscrew the nut and take out this tube. Using the finest emery cloth, clean the contact and install the tube back. The nut must be tightened without tightening. If your model has an overheating sensor, you will need to clean the contacts on it as well. If that doesn't work, you will have to buy a new thermocouple. It does not turn on yet, possibly due to the fact that you have problems with the membrane located in the water part. The draft sensor with a solenoid valve is connected in a series circuit, in which the current is supplied by a heated thermocouple. If the contact is broken somewhere, the unit will not work. And the traction sensor is triggered when overheating. If it heats up above a certain temperature, the contact opens and the current is lost. The gas supply valve is closed accordingly. You can check its operation by short-circuiting the wires, excluding the sensor from the system. If the device starts to work, then the problem is definitely in the sensor. The geyser of the VPG Astra 8910 emits a strong crackle when water is supplied. In this case, an extraneous sound emits and is heard when it is on and when not. What could have broken? Most likely, a circulation pump is installed in the water supply system. If so, then you should transfer the home system to a connection to a common pipeline using soft or plastic connections. When hot water is turned on, the instantaneous water heater turns off, then spontaneously lights up. I was told that most likely the problem is either in the diaphragm, or the stem is jammed. I opened the water block and lubricated the stem with graphite grease. I also turned the membrane upside down. In this state, the device worked for several days, but then the problem returned. Now I have bought a new block made of bronze. Top mounts with spring. There were no such components on the old model, but the store assured me that everything should work. But the stock is generally motionless. I installed a new block, and now even the wick does not light. What should I do? You most likely have a stretched membrane, it is enough to simply replace it for everything to work well. Your wick does not light up, because you overdid it a little. In theory, it should light up, at least as long as you hold the button. Spring retainer designed to replace stem packing. The old one was very inconvenient and very difficult to change. There is a thrust ring on the cone, and when you removed, it did not hold well. Try wiggling the stem on the water block with your hands. His movement should be elastic, but at the same time free. You can also try turning the Venturi wheel all the way. It is located at the front of the water block.
