Galan. Electrode heating boilers. Operation manual for the two-channel electronic regulating temperature indicator "NAVIGATOR" (p. 1)

General information

The principle of operation of electrode boilers differs from traditional electric ones. Heating in them is carried out not by heating elements (heating elements), but by flowing an electric current through the coolant.

More precisely, thermal energy arises as a result of the chaotic movement of ions from the anode to the cathode, i.e. coolant molecules split into positively and negatively charged particles. In fact, this is the same principle that home connoisseurs often use to quickly heat water when two blades connected to electricity are lowered into the water.

It should be noted that this heating system is not new. Even in Soviet times, it was used on nuclear submarines and ships. In 1992, the Russian one, on the basis of the standards of military equipment and conversion developments, began to manufacture household flow-type electrode boilers.

In 1994, the first production model appeared on sale, the operation of which showed the prospects of the chosen direction. Below we will take a closer look at the attractiveness of the Galan heating system.

Note! Galant company produces not only electrode heating boilers, but also conventional heating elements. Moreover, the latter have proven themselves well as durable and reliable devices.

About company

The products of JSC "Galan" have a long history. Initially, the industrial enterprise had a purely military direction and was engaged in the development and production of electrode devices that were used to heat ships and submarines. Since 1992, the company has developed Galan electric boilers for use in space heating.

The first Galan electrode heating boilers rolled off the assembly line in 1994. Over the entire period of work, the developers of the enterprise have repeatedly improved their own developments, and today their products boast a wide range of boilers operating in networks with one or three phases, and their power varies from 2 to 25 kW.

Features of electrode heating Galan

First of all, it should be said that the Galant heating system is a closed structure, i.e. the coolant circulates in a closed circle. In other words, electrode boilers cannot be used in systems where the coolant comes directly from a well or other source.

As for the radiators that can be used, there are practically no restrictions, they can be:

  • Steel;
  • Bimetallic;
  • Aluminum.

The only thing, it is not recommended to use with such boilers:

  • Large-sized radiators;
  • Cast iron radiators for home heating;
  • Large diameter pipes.

There are also no special requirements for the electrical connection. The only thing is to use cables of a suitable cross-section, and the connection diagram, which contains the instructions for the equipment, must be observed.

Dignity

The Galan heating system has many advantages, among which the following points can be highlighted:

  • Energy efficiency, which the manufacturer managed to achieve thanks to a new technology for converting electric current into thermal energy.
  • Energy saving - electrode boilers working in conjunction with digital electronic control units consume 30-40 percent less electricity in comparison with traditional heating elements.
  • Thanks to the use of modern technologies and high-quality materials, as well as the use of automatic devices, these devices are completely energy and fire safe..
  • Galan heating systems operate fully automatically... Thanks to this, human participation is not required to ensure a stable and comfortable temperature regime, regardless of weather conditions. Galan automation is capable of maintaining the temperature background with high accuracy (± 0.2 degrees). The equipment can be equipped with a climate control system for weekly programming of the operating mode. In addition, when using non-freezing heat carriers, such as "Potok", there is no need to drain them from the radiators, even in the event of a long idle time of the boiler.

Electronic control units

  • The Galant heating system is an excellent option for those settlements where there is an unstable voltage in the network.... Even if the voltage drops to 180V, the boiler will continue to work.
  • Electrode boilers do not require an installation permit.
  • In the event of a leak in the system, the device is immediately turned off, since the electric current cannot be closed in the circuit..
  • The liquid heating chamber has a small volume, and during ionization, the coolant in it heats up sharply, as a result of which the pressure rises to two atmospheres... Thus, the boiler serves not only as a heater, but also as a circulation pump for heating. This allows you to reduce the cost of purchasing equipment, as well as the cost of operating the heating system.
  • Low price.

Advice! The use of Galan antifreeze will make the system work more efficiently and also increase its reliability.

Thus, the popularity of these devices is well founded.

disadvantages

Like any other heating equipment, electrode boilers also have some of their disadvantages, which are listed below:

  • Demanding on water - the fact is that far from any water can be used in the system, but with certain characteristics. When starting the heating, it is necessary to prepare the coolant according to the manufacturer's recommendation. As a rule, for this, a few teaspoons of soda and salt are added to a liter of water. You can also use special fluids.

Heat carrier Galan

  • The electric current circulates in the water, therefore, the possibility of receiving a strong electric shock if you touch the heating radiator is not excluded. In order to prevent such a situation, it is necessary to perform grounding in accordance with the PUE and GOST 12.1.030-81.
  • It is periodically necessary to clean the system and change the electrodes, which become thinner over time, as a result of which the heating efficiency decreases. Thus, in terms of durability, electrode boilers do not have advantages over traditional heating elements.

As we can see, the shortcomings are not critical, but nevertheless they should be remembered.

Galan electrode boiler models

The Galan company today produces several model lines of these devices:

  • Hearth;
  • Geyser;
  • Volcano.

All devices differ in technical characteristics. Below, for comparison, we present the main parameters of some models:

Hearth-3Geyser-15Volcano-25

Thermostat BeeRT

It should be noted that boilers can be equipped with different electronics:

  • BeeRT - this configuration is the most inexpensive, however, it has a number of limitations: you cannot use ordinary distilled water as a heat carrier, since it must first be brought to the required density;
  • it is forbidden to use heating radiators made of low-quality aluminum;
  • when connected to an existing heating system, it must first be flushed with inhibitors.
  • CROS - the complete set with this automation is universal and devoid of BeeRT disadvantages. In particular, such heating Galant allows the use of any radiators and connection to the old heating system without prior flushing with inhibitors.
  • Automation Kros-25

    In addition, additional electronics and devices can be used in the system that will make the system more functional.

    Note! In case of using automatics not recommended by the manufacturer or, on the contrary, not using devices recommended by the manufacturer, the warranty will be void.

    The lineup

    There are three lines in the group of electrode boilers:

    Externally, the boilers are very similar. The main difference is size and power. In the line "Hearth

    »The smallest boilers are produced (both in size and power). The power of these heating units is from 2 kW to 6 kW. Weight - from 0.9kg to 1.1kg, dimensions - diameter 35mm, length depending on the model:

    • 275mm "Galan Ochag 3";
    • 320mm "Galan Ochag 5";
    • 335mm "Galan Hearth 6".

    The next group of heating devices "Geyser

    "More powerful. There are only two boilers in this line: Galan Geyser 9 for 9 kW, and Galan Geyser 15 for 15 kW. Here the weight and dimensions are greater: 5.0kg and 5.3kg, and the length is 360mm and410mm with a diameter of 130mm.

    Third line "Volcano

    »Is intended for rather solid premises. There are only two boilers: "Galan Volcano 25 and 50" with a capacity of 25 kW and 50 kW, respectively. Weight: 5.7kg and 11.5kg; length 460mm and 570mm with a diameter of 180mm.

    As you can see, even powerful Galan boilers are very small in size and weight. The price is also low (the most budget models cost about $ 60). But the equipment must operate under the control of automation - this is the only way to achieve electricity savings - by optimizing the thermal regime. And the cost of automation must be added to the boiler. You will also need room sensors - to maintain a comfortable temperature and for the same savings, and this is also money. Not the biggest, but still.

    Installation features

    To install an electrode boiler with your own hands, you will need a two-pipe heating system, as already mentioned above, of a closed type. The boiler is installed in a strictly vertical position.

    Piping should be done with 32 mm or one and a quarter inch pipes. For parallel modular systems, the diameter of the riser must be calculated on an individual basis, since it depends on the number of boilers in the system.

    Note! In order for electrode heating to be effective, when choosing radiators, it is necessary to take into account the power of the boiler - the power of the sections of the structure should not exceed the power of the heater.

    Galan heating scheme with underfloor heating

    In order for the system to work economically and correctly, the climate control must be installed in a specific place provided for in the installation instructions. In addition, you need to adhere to a certain volume of water or other coolant in the system, which is taken at the rate of 12 liters per one kilowatt of power consumption. It is even better if the volume reaches an average of 8-10 liters per kilowatt.

    Of course, in this case, it is necessary to complete a heating project and use a boiler of the required power.

    Otherwise, the process of installing heating does not differ from the device of a system with traditional types of boilers. Moreover, heating can mean not only radiators of the battery, but also a warm floor.

    These are, in fact, all the main features of Galant electrode heating.

    Connection and operation

    Galan boilers for heating are connected in one of four types, including:

    1. Standard wiring diagram.
    2. Modular connection.
    3. Parallel connection diagram.
    4. Boiler installation for floor heating.

    The most common methods of piping the boiler are considered the first and third. To carry out the installation of the unit to the general heating system, it is necessary to decide on the installation site (niche). Next, using a comb, you need to connect the pipes of the heat exchanger with the pipeline through which the coolant will circulate.

    Modern equipment is equipped with systems for monitoring and dumping excess air, which will allow for normal operation and eliminate the likelihood of breakdowns. Please note that Galan heating boilers belong to the type of equipment that needs electric power supply, therefore, for its uninterrupted operation, it is advisable to connect a UPS (inverter).
