If we talk about flat roofs, the mechanical strength of the foam is such that it allows you to insulate any type of roof - soft or exploited (see figures). In addition, polyurethane foam is distinguished by low moisture absorption, and it “does not get wet” even if the waterproofing is damaged.
A thin and light layer is required for effective thermal insulation. 50 mm polyurethane foam (~ 2.5 kg / m2) is equivalent to 80-90 mm polystyrene foam (~ 3-5 kg / m2), or 100-120 mm (18-25 kg / m2) mineral wool board, or 500 mm expanded clay (200 -400 kg / m2).
The low weight of PU foam is a great advantage when it comes to insulating a roof with a small bearing capacity, as well as when repairing "aged" buildings, when every kilogram "has a weight".
